Lena Santana is from a diverse background both in career terms and
personally. She was born in Salvador (Brazil), studied fashion design
in London and lived in Rio de Janeiro and this cosmopolitan history is
reflected in her designs.
Her fascination with the technique behind the tailoring and the
structure of dress-making began whilst working as costume designer. The
innovative and dramatic use of materials within her creations is
inspired by this field of design.
Lena envisions her clients to play with the clothes she creates
adapting them to fit their mood, in a playful and flirtatious way. The
concept of a dialogue between opposites gives direction to her
collections and for her there is no opposition in the traditional
sense. It becomes a dance, free and rigorous at the same time, between
the light and the heavy, revealing what is hidden, finding luxury in
the ordinary, exploring the game that shows the ugly in the beauty.

Lena Santana's current interests have been to reuse and rescue old
fabrics to create new wearable garments, to create efficient,
conceptual and eco-friendly collections. She aims is to sell her future
collections in boutiques and shops around London and Europe, providing
unique pieces that rescue vintage clothing with a twist of tailored
modern couture look.
Lena's underpinnings are found in her homeland Brazil. Her collections
are full of colour, rhythm and femininity. Over the years Lena has
introduced concepts of fair trade, recycled materials and fabrics to
her product development which result in unique garments, socially
responsible and full of character. | |
