Courses are now available over the autumn. We have both weekday courses and weekend workshops. Places are limited so sign up as soon as possible. We have both beginners and intermediate courses to suit every skill level. Payment can be by either Paypal, cheque or bank transfer. The courses we have available are as follows:
Basic Sewing Techniques
Date Option 1: 16th September - 7th October 2010, Thursday Evenings (4 week course).Date Option 2: 2nd - 3rd October 2010, Saturday & Sunday (1 weekend workshop).Course Structure: Four weekday evenings - 6.30pm to 9.30pm OR One Weekend - Saturday & Sunday - 10:30am to 4:30pm.Course Level: Beginner.Cost: £ 220 with all materials and refreshments included. This course covers the basics of dress making and sewing including: · Using a sewing machine. · Hand stitching. · Measuring and pattern cutting. · Preparing a garment for machine sewing.
Draping Course
Date Option 1: 14th September - 9th November 2010, Tuesday Evenings (10 week course). Date Option 2: 16th - 17th & 23rd - 24th October 2010, Saturdays & Sundays (2 weekend workshop).Course Structure: Ten weekday evenings - 6:30pm to 9:30pm. OR Two Weekends - Saturday & Sunday - 10:30am to 4:30pm.Course Level: Intermediate.Cost: £400 all materials and refreshments are included.
Draped clothes are not stitched or cut to fit, but wrapped around the body, using simple panels of cloth arranged according to the tastes and needs of the individual wearer. Drapery can be trim and practical, flowing and elegant, or anything in between. The student will learn the secrets of draping and how to follow the form of the body.
Customise Your Clothes Workshop
Dates: 18th - 19th September 2010. Course Structure: One weekend - Saturday & Sunday - 10:30am to 4:30pm.Course Level: Beginner.Cost: £210 all refreshments and materials are included (except your own garment to customise).
Come and learn how to adapt and transform old pieces of material into new and exciting garments. This course concentrates on basic sewing techniques such as measuring, pattern cutting, using zips and making hems. On the second day you will have the opportunity to use what you have learnt and customise an old garment.
