Lena Santana at FASHION PRESS WEEK 8th and 9th of November.

One of the great things about Prêt-a-Porter is the groups of models walking around in striking outfits. On the third day of the show a model walked past the stand wearing an amazing cat-suit. After talking with the model I discovered the cat-suit was from Dubai. Words can’t describe the intricacy of the print and the vitality of the colours, so I’ve included a photo! I had to take a picture, it was just too beautiful!

I want to share with you some photos of an exhibition that was running as part of the show. These images are garments made by up and coming designers who were given a number of themes and asked to design a range of garments they felt represented their interpretation of that theme. For example there was ‘Paysan’ , ‘Scales’ and ‘Embellishment’ to name a few.

The exhibition drew talents from around the world, including Japanese and French fashion students. There were some really innovative pieces including a coat made of plants encased in plastic bubbles. I always find it interesting to see how different people interpret the same brief. It’s wonderful to see so much creativity in one place.

These are just a few of my favourite pieces for you to enjoy!

The daily catwalk show was a definite highlight for me. Crowds of people gathered at the sound of the opening music. Short films were shown full of interesting images and film clips that illustrated the individual theme and then the models appeared, showcasing the work of designers at the tradeshow. Every outfit combined garments and accessories from different designers. Some were simpler than others, but no less beautiful. One of my favourites was a playsuit made of lace and I’m sure you can see why!
