A NOVEL FASHION BRAND WITH ETHICAL FOUNDATIONS
Lena is a London based women’s wear designer who integrates interesting textiles with traditional draping techniques to create innovative pieces for the modern independent woman who wants to look different, stylish and individual.
The company was found in 2007 in Brazil in where she has been selling some of her collections including Portugal, Budapest and UK coupled with an online presence that is available internationally.
Lena Santana is a company with integrity and ethical foundations; the brand concept is to offer two collections; a commercial collection made out of new fabrics and a one-off bespoke collection that will be made from recycled vintage materials.
Born in Salvador, Brazil, Lena lived in Rio de Janeiro before moving to London, where she studied Fashion Design at Surrey Institute of Art & Design. This cosmopolitan history has enabled Lena to create her own distinctive style, clearly visible in each design. Her fascination with the techniques behind tailoring and the structure of dress-making began whilst working as a costume designer, this field of design has inspired her creative and dramatic use of materials within her creations.
This novel perspective allows pure individuality in all elements of her work, her garments encapsulate a twist of modern couture, intricate attention-to-detail, quirkiness, exclusivity and a respect for quality that is hard to find within the fashion industry today.
Author of the book, ‘One Piece of Fabric, Lena’s South American background has influenced her designs to embody characteristics of a bold, unique and playful quality.
