Lena Santana Fashion Show at the Harrington Club 24th of February 2012

The Harrington Club and the Karlin & Paige Group present a private London Fashion Week Wrap-up Party at the Harrington Members Club, Kensington, including an exclusive fashion show featuring Lena Santana.

Lena Santana will showcase her much hailed ‘Flowering Collection’ alongside an exclusive preview of the new collection for 2013, ‘Inspiration’. Lena will be exhibiting alongside a selection of other London based designers such as Milina Imrich, Anna Peters of Studs and Lace Vintage Wear, RabbitHole London, Fazane Malik and Daniel Loveridge.

‘Inspiration’ pays homage to traditional African textiles by utilising African Brocade fabrics silk-screened by hand in London. Bold graphic prints contrast with soft pastel shades and subtle textures. Fabrics are intricately pleated and hand knit to create elegant pieces with the ultimate fit. Sourcing of materials is carefully considered and every step is taken to maintain the company’s strong moral and ethical code. The African Brocade fabrics used in this collection are 100% Egyptian cotton, woven in Germany and printed by hand in London. Each garment is cut by hand to ensure the least amount of fabric waste.

Printed Cat-suit

One of the great things about Prêt-a-Porter is the groups of models walking around in striking outfits. On the third day of the show a model walked past the stand wearing an amazing cat-suit. After talking with the model I discovered the cat-suit was from Dubai. Words can’t describe the intricacy of the print and the vitality of the colours, so I’ve included a photo! I had to take a picture, it was just too beautiful!

New Designers Exhibition at Prêt-a-Porter

I want to share with you some photos of an exhibition that was running as part of the show. These images are garments made by up and coming designers who were given a number of themes and asked to design a range of garments they felt represented their interpretation of that theme. For example there was ‘Paysan’ , ‘Scales’ and ‘Embellishment’ to name a few.

The exhibition drew talents from around the world, including Japanese and French fashion students. There were some really innovative pieces including a coat made of plants encased in plastic bubbles. I always find it interesting to see how different people interpret the same brief. It’s wonderful to see so much creativity in one place.

These are just a few of my favourite pieces for you to enjoy!
